In the steps of St.Paul

“Setting sail therefore from Troas (Troy), we made a straight course for Samothrace and the day following to Neapolis (Kavala) and from thence to Phillippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the first of the district, a Roman colony . . . and when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue.”

Day 1:
Arrival in Athens.

Day 2:
Visit to Ancient Corinth, museum and archeological site. Here we will see the Bema where the apostle was accused of unlawful teachings before the Roman Proconsul Gallio. In the afternoon visit the Areopagus, from where Paul addressed the Athenians, as well as the Acropolis.

Day 3: :
Depart by bus for Meteora, site of the “Monasteries Hanging in the Air”, with stops at the resort of Kammena Vourla and the historic battlefield of Thermopylae. Overnight at Meteora.

Day 4:
On the way to Thessaloniki we visit Vergina, the Museum with the Tomb of Philip II and the exquisite finds. Continue to Pella the capital of the Macedonians. Overnight in Thessaloniki.

Day 5:
In Thessaloniki, we visit the church of St. Demetrios, built over a Roman bath house where St Demetrios was imprisoned and martyred, as well as other Byzantine churches dating from the 5th to the 15th centuries and the archaeological museum.

Day 6:
Phillippi was the first town in Greece to hear the gospel when Paul had landed at nearby Neapolis (Kavala). Here he established the first Christian community of Europe. Visit the Roman forum with the two large basilicas, the so-called prison of Paul and the theater. Overnight in Thessaloniki.

Day 7:
Flight from Thessaloniki to Athens.
